World Culture Day On the Rise

As spring approaches, the Newman community is preparing to celebrate the diverse cultures and traditions of its students and faculty with an exciting and interactive event—World Culture Day!

Scheduled for March 4th, at 1:30 PM, the event will include a festive mix of food, music, and activities. Participating groups will be able to decorate rooms where they can share and showcase their unique traditions, customs, and cultural heritage. These immersive events give students the opportunity to connect, learn, and experience the identities and cultures that make up our rich Newman community.

Novah Wali, Class of 25’ and Student Council President encourages everyone to get involved. “World Culture Day is meant as a way for Newman students to celebrate and share their cultures with others and hopefully also connect with students of their own cultures more,” she explains. “We want as many people as possible to participate to make it the best experience!

One of the highlights of the event will be the diverse range of activities planned by the various culture rooms. Students hosting a room for India share that, “we will be bringing in food, playing music, and likely dressing up” creating a truly interactive and beneficial experience. Other rooms will likely, “decorate, play music or videos, bring food, dress up, make crafts, give a presentation or almost anything else,” shares Noah.

For students who don't plan on hosting a room for World Culture Day, there's still plenty to explore and take part in. Novah adds, “Students can then walk around the classrooms and participate in these activities to explore more cultures! This is meant to be a very open-ended event for our community to make the most of and have a great time!” Whether you're hosting a room or visiting one, World Culture Day promises nothing but fun. It is an event that cannot be missed!
